Cashmere Ombre wrap by ‘Purl Soho’ review

Ever since I started knitted 3 1/2 years ago, I wanted to knit this. This is an expensive kit. As of today, this is $420 on the Purl Soho website. It includes 8 skeins of cashmere yarn in a gradient of shades made by Jade Sapphire. It also included a cotton project bag where you can use to store your very expensive wrap when finished. It also offered an unboxing experience like no other.

Purl soho generally have their items marked down during Mother‘s day, Black Friday and Christmas. I missed the 20% discount christmas 2018. I was at work and when I checked my email at the end of the day, my color choice of pink is gone. I bought this Christmas 2019 and I know this was going to be my retirement countdown wrap.

First, I have to say this is expensive and it is over rated. The kit comes with 2 patterns, either knit knit purl purl or knit purl knit purl. I chose the seed stitch and it was tedious. My tension is not the same throughout and I can see little holes in my wrap. Also the pattern said one color will knit 8 inches, none of my balls were enough to knit 8 inches.

Since this was my retirement countdown, I started to knit one ball in January and one ball a month after that. By the time it was April, I was so tired of the knit purl knit purl one ball a month was too many. But this was very symbolic for me. I finished it the first week of August and gave my notice after Labor Day. What.a relief to work at the same place for over 28 years. I was ready to go.

Another complaint is at $50 a skein, I expect perfection, the color is really not dyed the same throughout, which may not matter, since this is an ombré wrap, but makes me wonder is Jade Sapphire cashmere really worth the money.

I had every intention to knit the other pattern in another color and buy another kit Christmas 2020, but the knit purl knit purl had enough of me.
